Valentine’s Day is approaching which means it is time for me to make Seb another thematic shirt. If you are scrambling at the last second, like I was, I even put together a PDF of the design I created.
Recess Raglan by See Kate Sew
Riley Blake Jersey Knit Half Inch Stripe
Both the grey fabrics used is mystery stuff from my stash
Designed by yours truly. The file is for download here.
The funny thing is, Valentine’s Day is not a holiday that I put much effort into celebrating but since my first post on this blog was a Valentine’s Day shirt I made for Seb, it seems fun to make a yearly shirt to celebrate my blogiversary.
I can also use it as an opportunity to get misty eyed over how fast my little guy is growing!
With last year’s shirt Seb kept commenting that I made the heart “broken and sideways”. This year he kept lamenting on why I kept trying to make him a pirate. We do not live in the sea or even near the sea, there is no reason for any of us to pretend we are pirates.
I also ended up needing to tuck in the shirt for the photos. Seb thought I made it a bit long. I’ll re-hem the shirt in time for him to wear to the party at school tomorrow.
He also wants all of you to know to that he has a boo-boo on his hand.
The file with the graphic I designed has two pages. With the first page I have everything as one big graphic if you wish to stencil or use a fancy cutting machine that I do not own but would really love.
On the second page I have the elements broken apart if you want to applique like I did but you will still have to grab the text from the first page. To get the pieces cut you can use the freezer paper method or use everything like a stencil like I did with the Broken and Sideways Heart Tee.
Happy (early) Valentine’s Day from me and my little Hearrt Breaker!
