For the Love of Tunics & Dresses Tour

Hello and welcome to my stop on the For the Love of Dresses & Tunics Tour.  With all the driving involved when I want to have a “date” with Mr. Rox we tend to do lunch and a movie. For my look I wanted to find a balance between cute enough for a day time “date” but still comfortable enough to  sit through a movie. The Bluezette for Ladies dress definitely hits all those marks.

Be sure to enter the Rafflecopter giveaway at the end of this post for your chance to win your choice of 5 Love Notions patterns (excluding bundles) and a $50 gift certificate to Girl Charlee.

Bluezette for Ladies by Love Notions
Options sewn: Half circle skirt, sleeveless lined bodice, and size L.

Verhees Rainfall purchased at Mabel Madison.

The dark grey knit is a mystery knit from my stash.

About the project…
This not the first Love Notions pattern I’ve made. I’ve tested the Willow Wrap Top, one of my all time favorite boy sewing patterns is the Samson Sweater, and the Hazelwood Hoodie was the perfect base for Pen’s Princess Rosalina look.

What I love about the Bluezette is the wide range of options that come in just one pattern. Several different sleeve, skirt, and length options are available. With my mind on a spring/summer wardrobe, I went for the sleeveless bodice and the flirty half circle skirt.

With the half circle skirt being so full, I stuck with my bodice measurement size for the entire dress instead of blending to a larger size to compensate for my generous bottom half. I made no major alterations to the pattern other than using bias tape on the inside of the hem. For both the sneaky pop of color and I like how it weighs down the skirt a bit. I love the twirl from a circle skirt but I do not want to inadvertently be pulling a Marilyn while out on a date with Mr. Rox!

Since the pattern is for knits (though you can use a woven for the skirt) you get comfort and style all in one package with the Bluezette.  The Rainfall Verhees I picked out was something I’ve horded for over and year. I’m glad I found the right project for it. I balanced out the fun of the print with a plain grey knit that matched the shade of one of the drops. I’m trying to keep on the path of creating things that work with my existing wardrobe as much as possible.

This project was such a smashing success that my only problem was deciding what to pair the dress with for a lunch date! It seriously goes with 80% of my wardrobe. Not only is the Bluezette the perfect dress for a date but it works great as a wardrobe staple!

Thank you! It was so cold today that not even the parka would save me. I made Mr. Rox grocery shop on his own. 😉

You look awesome! I love this dress with everything you paired it with! I really like how this looks with a different bodice fabric too. I think I need another one now =)
