One of my Kids Clothes Week projects has been whipping up my final look for the mini-collection I’ve been testing by Jennuine Design. You may recall my testing of her adorable LOL Swing Top way back in the summer with a very tiny Pen. The Haven Acres Collection (affiliate link) consists of leggings, blouse and a cap. Inspired by riding fashion the pieces very much have an equestrian lifestyle look to them. The Dressage Leggings has a paneled and basic version, Sweet Pea cap features ADORABLE pony ears and the Haven Acres Blouse comes in a long and short sleeved version.
I have to confess that I do inwardly groan a bit when it comes to sewing what I call “fiddly” baby size garments and at first I thought the Haven Acres Blouse might just be one of those “fiddly” projects but I assure you that looks may be deceiving. The blouse comes together quickly for an experienced sewer and would be perfectly suitable for a beginner with moxie.
Much of the fabric used in the outfit came from upcycled sources. The tweed was an old skirt and the material for the blouse came from a dress that would have probably never fit me again (haha!). The Dressage Leggings, especially in baby sizes, would be perfect for using upcycled pieces of knit since the design consists of several panels. I made MANY test versions using all sorts of scraps with cute results.
The Sweet Pea Cap rounds off the collection. I love animal eared hats on kids and even if your child is too “mature” for ears the cap would look great without them. Like the Dressage Leggings, the panel design would be perfect for using smaller pieces of material if you wanted to make a slightly funkier version.
Oh my the cuteness! Can you resist the adorable ears on the Sweet Pea Cap? Next week I’ll be one of the stops on the Haven Acres blog tour. The tour has a bit of a twist to it so be sure to check it out.
