I decided to make two foxes (one each for Seb and Pen) and thought it would be fun to try adding a fabric with a pattern to the mix. For the overall body I used a rusty-brown velour. The underside of the blanky and for the white sections I selected a soft quilting cotton for each fox. The pattern does not use much fabric at all so I have plenty of leftovers since I purchased a yard of each cotton.
Making the foxes was a breeze and a fast project. Besides being a great addition to a loved ones menagerie of “friends”, it would also make for a great last minute handmade gift. I had never made a 3d “head” before but the instructions were so clear that I had no issues despite it being my first time. After I had cut the velour for the blanket portion I noticed that one of the pieces had an obvious flaw. Since I used the velour for two foxes I did not have enough leftovers to re-cut one of the squares so I improvised a heart applique to cover the booboo. This inspired the addition of bow details and me dubbing my creations as “Mr and Mrs Fox”.
Seb is a connoisseur of stuffed friends and he has given the results his approval!
